This place is worth giving a shot. They have big portions for reasonable prices. Constantly well kept and with great vibes. Would recommend to others.
The best omakase in LA and the kindest people too!
Top quality, friendly
The hand rolls here are great. The place is usually pretty crowded but it cycles through quickly. The hand rolls are made fresh and handed to you as they're finished. Very aesthetically pleasing interior as well.
Those sushis are one of the best I've had and YES, I've been to Japan. The rice is slightly warm in order to give more taste. A bit pricey, but that's the price to pay to have top level sushis
Food are good ! Had a great dinner here with my family. Will come back here again. Highly recommend if u live in Monterey Park or Alhambra .
They are very traditional. Straight sushi (just fish on top of rice) and they don't let you add spicy mayo or other sauces. Sushi is great regardless. They do not have more than the 2 piece sushi.
I’ve been eating here since 2004. I’ve been to many sushi spots in LA (and all over) but I always come back here. It’s not spectacular looking (very bare-bones decor) bit you’re here for the quality of the fish. It’s served on warm-rice and sooo good. I compare all other sushi to this place, and it’s surprisingly not crowded. I will say this place doesn’t offer anything other than nigiri and a few hand rolls, so don’t come here expecting California rolls or ridiculous sauces on everything.
An omakasr must have. The only place in LA that serves shrimp roe during high season. Sit at the bar and transport to taste heaven
Good lunch special, fresh fish and can be pricey but it is good sushi in rich Santa Monica
Truly a great sushi experience. Spring for omakase at the bar. The rice is warm and the fish fresh and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. This place is no frills, just good sushi.
Excellent sushi. Trust me!
Really great sushi 👌 don't let the strip mall facade fool you! This place is a legit no frills, straight up sushi and sashimi restaurant.
Really delicious sushi. My husband and I took the lunch special double. A little bit pricey but so so good.
Excellent sushi
Don’t be fooled by the corner plaza setting or the unassuming interior, The food here is quite simply excellent. It’s family run. They even make their own soy sauce. Flock with all the other fools to brand-name places like Hide or know something they don’t and eat at Echigo.
Wonderful experience as Echigo has some of the freshest fish with warm sushi rice. Toshi and his staff are always friendly and create a wonderful experience. Don't let its location fool you, this is a gem in West LA!! Omakase has never let me down!
Great fish, no crazy rolls, just simple fish and rice. Great start and nice sake
Perhaps one of the most underrated sushi restaurants in all of Los Angeles. I have gone out of my way to experience sushi at it's best throughout the world and Echigo remains in my top 20 globally. Echigo is best experienced omakase style at the bar and given the flavors to the palate, they are extremely well priced.k Echigo is nondescript location and decor, and if you are in for the food experience, well worth the time. Try the crab hand rolls...
Some of the best bang for your buck if you love an omakase. The fish is very fresh and you do get some interesting selection, not just a generic maguro, sake, hamachi type thing. Eight pieces + hand roll was $40 -- very good deal.
Excellent sushi. Reasonable price...especially for preparation this good. Omakase only at the bar...makes sense for a chef and sushi of this quality. Service is fair but reasonable. May be the best strip mall sushi on the Westside.
Best wasabi you will find, the rest of the ingredients are also amazing. Best quality price sushi in LA
Amazing sushi try the sea orchin
Straight up Japanese style sushi bar! Brought me back to my time living in Tokyo.Check this place out if you want more traditional style sushi.
This place is great! Walked in, got seated right away. The sushi tastes wonderful and FRESH. Also, the service is amazing. Our waiter was very attentive. That's always a plus!
Hard to believe after having sushi all over the world, including Japan, I would find week after week, the freshest, most delicious fish in a tiny dive in a strip mall above a Pizza Hut. Echigo is certainly the best purist sushi (no cream cheese rolls, no to-go orders) in Los Angeles.
Best authentic sushi, fish is always the freshest. Hidden gem.
Echigo is a very good sushi spot. The selection is varied and the chef very good with his knife. I highly recommend Echigo.
Try Hand Roll Sushi Dinner Tonight @ KazuNori Downtown L.A (Sushi Nozawa Group). Full House , Need To Queue In Line. Order 6-Hand Roll Set (Toro , Hamachi , Salmon , Bay Scallop , Crab , Lobster) + Today Special Uni Hand Roll. Tasty. Prices Are Reasonable & Affordable. Recommended. Worthy.
My family and I love coming to the Sushi Bar because the rolls are amazing! I have tried a couple of different rolls but as soon as I tried the Chahi roll I was hooked! The sushi chef Jason is amazing, super friendly and very talented and when he sees my mother and I arrive he already knows what we're going to order. That kind of friendliness feels great and keeps us coming back to The Sushi Bar! The restaurant is small and you may not always find a table or a seat at the bar right away. But it is worth the wait!
Small selection and did not have the best comparable flavor
My friend and I were craving for some rolls and decided to stop by KazuNori. I got to say our craving was satisfied. We got the 4 hand roll set which comes with toro, yellowtail, NZ sea bream. and crab. Each roll came out perfectly. The rice was warm and the fish was fresh. I like how the rice was warm as it really compliments the cold fish, making it melt in the mouth. If your ever craving for some hand roll this is the place to go.
great quality and freshness!
Delicious, fresh, great selection. Could use a larger sign to see when driving up.
This place is amazing! The sushi is exceptional quality. We were blown away. Don't be fooled by the simple interior and nondescript location in a strip mall. Echigo is top notch in every way! Don't miss this one.
Excellent tasting rolls. Very good quality. Small and limited space with a seemingly limited menu. But dam was it good.
(4.5 stars) Double the lunch special so you can get two blue crab hand rolls. So good.
I love this place! fantastic, espescially for the price. This is a more traditional type of place, and they just serve sashimi, sushi, and handrolls, as well as a few warm appetizers. The fish is all fantastic and i really recommend it!
I always come here for the scallop roll and salmon nigiri. Cuts are fat, they definitely don't skimp. Service is great - You're not kept waiting long for a table or to get your order taken and the food comes out quickly. Definitely recommend getting the scallop roll and any nigiri!
This place obviously knows how to please their customers. Consistently with a super nice approach. The food is fairly priced, regularly fresh and clean.
Above all, the salmon sushi was greeeeeeaaaatttt ever! This place seemed expensive a little, but comparing the quality, it’s worth enough.
The best sushi I’ve ever had. Omakase blew our minds. It was superb in every possible way and we can’t wait to go back. Freshest fish, excellent preparations. Very authentic. Go for the omakase.
This is the best "bang for your buck" sushi in LA.The omakase isn't cheap, but for the amount and quality of fish that you get, it's second to none. They are usually pretty empty, too, which is a shame because I love this place!Total hole-in-the-wall on the second floor of a strip mall above a pizza hut, which only adds to the charm if you ask me :)
Best hand rolls I have ever tried. We ordered a five hand roll, which includes the following rolls: toro, yellowtail, bay scallop, crab and lobster. All of them were really tasty! The nori is served warm and it is very crispy and flavorful. We also ordered halibut sashimi. It was fresh and tasty. The place is small, fitting around 20 people. We waited for 15 minutes but it was worth it.I highly recommend it!
Deliciousness hand rolls. Always order out from them when I have my seafood cravings. They have a great assortment of rolls. I like to order one of each. I can decide which is my favorite. The rice is also amazing. Texture is not too soft and the amount of vinegar is perfect! I love sushi rice! They are available on most delivery services.
Incredible value !
Great sushi at a decent price. A local favorite!
By far, one of the best sushi hand roll. So simple, but so delicious ! Definitely go for the 6 hand roll from the menu. You will get your money's worth. They do have a line even before the restaurant opens, but not as long so maybe try to get there before place opens. Either way, it is worth trying out !
Omikase is the way to go. His sushi rice is warm and different and an improvement of standard sushi rice.
Casual, low key spot with consistent, high quality sushi!
